This is why I limited my comments to the one point: I can't explain the
video and I have not studied the whole issue in depth.  I don't know what
that is; but given the size and clarity of the airliner before it hit and
comparing it to the black streak apparently at the same distance, I don't
see how they got an F-15 out of it.

Phil further down points out the mid-air refueling aspect of combat
missions; that wouldn't apply in this case, a scramble to intercept.  It
would slow down the response considerably.  All I was pointing out was that
their calculations in this one area were not accurate, and I leave it at
that.
