nice use of the preprocessor (the shell commands obviously assume the
Bourne, Korn or a compatible shell, but are in a comment and are
subsequently stripped away).

Which, thankfully, is not indicative of how "real" C/Unix people work. :-)
Now REs, *that's* where you can truely be obscure (a few sed/awk scripts
and away you go..).
