Ahem! I've discovered something.. E-MAIL viruses does exist, and
has existed since the first time a "hoax" was made..
The question is if it qualifies to be a computer virus...
The E-MAIL viruses I know about, is "Good Times", "Irina", et.cetera.
Everybody claims that they are fake - and of course, they will not infect
any machines.. but I actually think they're viruses. They are the first
"text-based" viruses, that doesn't infect the computer, but the brain of
the people reading the mails! And only the brains of people who don't
know shit about computer viruses..
And why do I claim they are viruses? Well, just look. How often don't
we see the Irina virus warnings? In this group as well as in newsgroups,
etc.etc? Far too often. They spread like wildfire. Like viruses...
Also, the e-mail viruses do have a payload. They use lots of peoples disk-
space, they irritate Rod, me, and most of you others - and generally is
a pain in the ass.
The worst thing is, there is no virus scanner that can detect these viruses,
except from ppl who know what a computer virus really is. And therefore,
they continue to spread, use valuable disk space, and irritate us..
And therefore I ask - Isn't this really a virus? :>
