FW> Hi! You pointed out that the fido useage sure has dwindled and gone
FW> to the net. Well... in time it may come back. One friend of mine was
FW> SO delighted to go to the net... there were just SO many people there!!
FW> After a while he discovered most of them were teenagers pretending to
FW> be stockbrokers. The adults may just come back to the fidos! That is
FW> also true of the moderator of one of the local bbs's.
Let's hope so. I too have become a bit disenchanted with the
internet, other than being able to correspond with my children
and grandchildren. Saves lots of long-distance calls. (G).
FW> Meanwhile, a friend put me on to a GOOD writer! These are mysteries set
in US Nat'l Parks, and
FW> the author is a park ranger at Mesa Verde-
The details of the stories have the great details needed
FW> to make a book ring true.... such as what it's like to be caught in a
FW> forest fire. The author's name is NEVADA BARR, and the books include
FW> FIRESTORM and TRACK OF THE CAT.
I believe I've heard about these books. Thanks, I'm going to look
for them next time I go to the Public Library.
I love books that ring true. I recently read a book (mystery of course),
written by a retired San Diego police officer, that takes place in
San Diego. As a long time resident of the city, the book came alive
for me and I could picture exactly where the crimes were taking place,
as I lived in some of the areas mentioned.
Well Jan, it's nice talking to you again. The name of the book I
just mentioned, escapes me at the moment, (getting a bit long in
the tooth you know, and tend to be forgetful at times) but it
will come back to me and I'll pass the info on to you.
Take care,
Dorothy
