JV>Remove the power tubes.... if it doesn't blow, you have an area to
JV>start looking at.
That's what I did. With the tubes out the output voltage is right on and
the fuse doesn't blow.
JV>Check for blown up stuff (WITH POWER OFF AND CAPS DRAINED) around the
JV>output t00bs. Check for carbon on sockets, which will indicate
JV>arc-ing. File or replace sockets.
JV>One reason o/p tubes glow is a bias problem. Have this checked.
JV>Check filter caps, as part of normal maintenance. Look for bubbling
JV>or leaking, which indicates they're BAD. If you've had it for 10
JV>years and haven't changed them, it's time anyway.
JV>You should have found the problem. Odds are both tubes won't go at
JV>the same time, so I'd guess a bias fault. Of course I could be
JV>wrong. Once.
I'm saving all this sage info in a file and printing it out too. That
bias idea seems to fill the bill. I planned to change all the
elctrolytics. Any suggestions where I can get replacements?
JV>If all else fails, take it to someone with a clue.
If I get some extra money, HAH, and I can find someone reliable I just
might do that.
