MW> MP> Agreed that she is not stupid. What she spouts is dangerous, and
MW> MP> made more dangerous because she cloaks herself in the aura of a
MW> MP> medical professional and sounds like she knows what she is
MW> MP> talking about. Herbs have nothing to do with ADHD.
MW> I understand exactlly what you are saying. I have been in the health
MW>field myself for over 8 years. I read the journals but I would never
MW>profess to know everything about anything...Whatever information I
MW>get, I share it with others and let them make their own decisions.
MP> I share information, too. There is a load of very good stuff on the
MP> WWW. One of them is the entire report from Ken BLum about the genetic
MP> basis for ADHD. It contains an excellent explanation of the reason why
MP> ADHD seems to be co-morbid with many things.
Thank you. I will check out this site...I have never been diagnosed as
having AD(H)D, but in learning about the symptoms my grandchildren have,
I realize I have, or did have, some of them...as do a few of my children.
MW> Send him over...I live in Pennsylvania but it may be worth the trip.
MW>I must tell you I have 17 natural grandchildren, which the 7 in
MW>question are, and I have 15 step grandchildren. I have 8 children, 3
MW>which are still ADD and ADHD, and one that has some of the symptoms.
MW>I, myself, seem to have a few. We were told by the doctors here that
MW>ADHD is genetic.
MW> Actually when the grandkids are here with me, they behave very well.
MW>I am very strict with them and it seems to work "with me"...I never
MW>hit them, but I do make sure I have their attention and let them
MW>know that I am displeased with how they are acting. They usually
MW>quiet down for me. Takes one to know one, perhaps....:)
MP> Perhaps it is just you. My ADHDer always seem to have a special
MP> relationship with his Grandfather. When they were together, he was a
MP> totally different child.
Perhaps...I have always believed that love is very importand along with
respect. I think this may be part of it, that, and the fact that I am not
with them 24 hours a day as are parents....Even with the whole gang here
at once [which happens once in a while], the grandchildren will tell each
other what they are allowed to do and what they are not allowed to do. The
older take the younger for a walk around and say "don't touch this, but you
can touch this"...Looks cute and they really remember the rules...
MP> Holiday dinners at your place must make the local news. My family is
MP> so small that for my son's Bat Mitzvah in September, we rented the
MP> coat room at a local restaurant. Had room to spare.
LOL.....I am sure the pride in your son could have filled any ball stadium.
That is the most important part of a Bar Mitzvah...your son is now a man.
The family is proud no matter what....And I don't always have everyone over
at the same time anymore. Some live other places...but we talk on the phone.
Wish your son a late Mazel Tov from me....
Marie
