Hey, my 40 gig Hitachi 2.5 HD is 2.75" wide. As is the 20 gig IBM it
replaced. I would not recommend insulating the heat in by filling the
space with TP. I think as long as the hard drive is fastened tightly to
the caddy it will be just fine with the air space around it.
