Ahem ... Seems to me the venom index waxeth exceeding high here!
For most of us, I should imagine it isn't so much a matter of
hating ACB; it's a matter of how much trust we put in each source
of information and how much time we have to sift thru it all. In
fact, there was and is a lot of behind-the-scenes work going on on
the Gorton amendment. There was definitely a need for immediate
action when this issue came up suddenly. However, those who think
that the silence of Mr. Gashel in recent days means things are
getting done were right. Besides, consider President Clinton's
press statement that indicated he'd veto the appropriations bill
if it had the Gorton amendment in it. The point-of-order that
would have killed the amendment lost by only two votes in the
Senate. presuming everyone sticks to their ideological positions,
this means there is no way that Congress could override the
Presidential veto. I'm not saying that there wasn't reason for
alarm and concerted action; there was. But some organizations
(and I do not mean ACB here) panicked, in my opinion. Ah well.

You might be surprised! I haven't checked for a while so can't
vouch for the current state of affairs but ever wonder why NFB-
talk isn't on GBX.ORG, a BBS operated by an ACB member? (I'm not
criticizing this; it is his right to place what material he deems
appropriate on his BBS.)
