Paul Taulborg visited my music studio, saying:
PT> The new A4000T running at 60mHz is like an IBM running at 500mHz.. It
PT> SHOULD be illegal. :) Now that is click and before you even hit the
PT> second click, it is loaded. :) Amazing stuff. A few people from around
PT> here have gotten them (the Omaha area)..
While I've never owned one (except this A500 I picked up at a garage sale
for $20 and have no good software for...) I've always admired the Amiga
machines for their abilities in animation and sound.
It's unfortunate that their sound HASN'T kept up with the level of
graphics they've been upping. They still use the basic 4-channel
22.05KHz 8-bit sound chip they've ALWAYS used. The days of the 4-channel
MOD have long passed. :) Even PC's are doing 32 and 64-channel tracker
variants of the MOD format in lush 16-bit stereo; irrelevant when you
start discussing MIDI though...
I'm just surprised they didn't upgrade the stock sound chip.... I know
you can get cards and dongles that increase you to 16-bit sampling
(over how many channels? I don't know.....) but I think they should have
taken audio a little more seriously.
My opinion only. :)
... Help me....I'm having trouble with the obvious.
