on winwhatever, that would be netserial, i think... whatever product of
pcmike's that emulates a modem...

on OS/2, that would be the vmodem driver with the SIO replacement comms
package from Ray Gwinn of X00 fame...

on linux, i understand that there's something built into dosbox or dosemu or such...
