There is. If the series goes five games they get three of them at home.
I don't like the current format much, but I would like it even less if they
made it a 3-2 format. That's too much of an advantage for the division
winner, and the wildcard team's fans might never get a game in their park. I
know you'll say that's too bad, they should have won their division. But why
even have the playoffs if you're going to give one team a big handicap,
almost ensuring that they'll lose?
The best solution, clearly, would be a 2-2-1 format, or better yet, a 2-3-2
format (for a seven game series -- five game series suck). But I'm sure they
don't want to stretch the playoffs out anymore than they have to.
