Hi all,

could anyone give me a quick outline of what is required to register a 
trademark and copyright?  Also a guess as to the costs involved.

I've got a couple of ideas for niche programs that I am in the process of
developing but am unsure of how to protect myself from having manuals, ideas
and names stolen.  I also do not want to use someone elses name(s) etc.

As yet I don't have a lot of money to devote to getting legal advice so am 
looking for a expanation that I can work with until I have a finished product.

PS. one more thing, are the disclaimers you see with shareware/software
worth while or are they a waste of time?
