OK, your original was the usual rather vague one and it wasnt clear which of those you wanted. I agree, total automation isnt a terrific idea, it would certainly leave you open to a deliberate attack, and with the rage the devil stuff can engender in some people, IMO it would be mad to take that risk. OTOH in some ways you have a bit of a problem. If you do want to protect against a deliberate attack you really do have to do a proper validation of the data they provide as best you can, not just look to see if the same looks reasonable.
