But they buy an unlocking kit for a few hundred dollars, get themselves a
laptop, unlock the phones and sell them on eBay for $50 apiece. Or they
use spam email.
I could imagine it working. Well, not now.
Someone also sold a pair of headlamps off an Audi quattro Sport on eBay for
GBP350. Granted, the bonnet (hood) costs around $15,000 and most of the
parts are vicious - but the headlamps are off a VW Passat; $10 in any
junkyard.
In the UK, phones are locked to networks, not SIM cards. If you have a
phone you can get a SIM card on Sheffield market for GBP10 with some free
airtime. They sell anonymous SIM packs for all providers, so they just ask
if your phone's locked to a network. If you're really keen on one
provider, they'll unlock it for GBP10.
