Hello Rod!

On 03 Jun 94, you said to Geoff Armstrong:

BG>> single faulty tone as BUSY as well, after about 3 seconds. I was
BG>> most impressed (and still am).

GA>> That would be NU tone (Number Unobtainable). It means the number
GA>> has been disconnected, not faulty.

RS> OTOH some systems can be a bit cavalier about using NU when congestion
RS> tone is intended.

I know if the Recorded Voice Announcement machines break down in AXE, you
get congestion tone instead of the announcements (BEEP beep BEEP beep
instead of "The number you have called is not connected...").
This causes lots of problems with old ducks saying "I can't get thru
to xxx-xxxx" when they've been dialling the wrong number all along.

But I've never heard of NU ILO CT. Anything can and does happen, though.

P.S. The subject line should read "Subject Length test
8901234567890". Could you reply so I can see how much gets chopped off
the end. Thanx.

Sea Ewes are round!
Geoff.
