Hello, Jean. -=> JEAN PARROT wrote to WAYNE CHIRNSIDE <=- WC> I've checked out Ebay and there's over 1000 links WC> to EDO RAM at 15 - 22 dollars so I think I'll take a chance there. Hmmm. Sounds kinda steep for 64MB of 72 pin EDO. WC> I want 64K on this machine. JP> Go for 128. RJT has recently been through that - - not much need to put in 128MB if the chipset will only cache the first 64MB. Except for the HX chipset, the Intel chipsets like FX, VX, and TX for this generation of Pentium processors can only cache up to the first 64MB of RAM. Based on a test I did on a TX board with "Winbench" or similar benchmark software some months back, adding more memory beyond that can actually slow things down a bit. - - - JimH. ... "Bother!" said Pooh, as he realized his entire 'puter system is obsolete. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.32* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/1 379/1 633/267 |
