I caught the author on a number of radio talk shows as he went about his
promo tour. He came across in an engaging way that piqued my interest. I've
not read his previous stuff, but it's referenced in this novel (and yes
there's very heavy third temple stuff in there).

Still, his characters were interesting, as were the various underlying plot
lines. But, given your stated preference on that type of book, I'd not
recommend it to you.
