I've kinda got the opposite, and totally different problem. (OK, I might as
well have started another thread. =;-)
I've a Cardinal PNP modem in a VLB buss 486. (No support for PNP.) After
scrambling to get it set up, it would seem to be in a major disagreement with
my vid driver. I'm using the most current driver for the chip (S3 86C805),
but it still seems to mess with the modem's performance. My problem, is
likely that I don't know what next to do to exorcize the demon slowing down
my internet connections. My file transfers from a DOS window, or from the
command prompt (W 3.11f/WG, DOS 6.22) are just peachy with the ISPs BBS.
(Same phone # and from other BBSes, but when I use Trumpet (v 3 I think), I
keep falling back and never seem to go forward unless the wind blows the
right way.
I'm suspecting my next trouble shoot should be to find a Windows
communication program to see if it will bog down too, but after that, then
what? Through ATPI (I believe it's called) I have tried to turn off all hints
of compression, or line retraining, yet the same thing happens. I believe
I've turned on all the [Enhanced] section of SYSTEM.INI that I was supposed
to, and I've swapped out TWCOMM.DRV. The SERIAL.386 driver has been
replaced...
Anybody?
... Thanks in advance, Rick. James
