I haven't bought books for a long time. If something comes up that I like
then I just hop on the 'net, cruise over to my library, put a hold on it
and, when my name comes to the top, I get an automated phone call telling
me it is at my local branch ("local" = the branch where I asked
to have it delivered when it became available).
If it's not in my local library system, I ask the library to borrow it
from another system. Two drawbacks: I must pick it up at and return it
to my central library; and it cannot be renewed (in fact, the 3-week
"clock" starts ticking when my library system receives it (not
when I pick it up).
