-> TW> Water does little to Nothing to stop Gamma Rays. It takes Lead or -> TW> other Heavy metals to do that. Now the Water/Plastic does a good job -> TW> on Neutrons. Which Can Kill Humans, Rembember the Neutron Bomb that -> TW> killed the People but didn't destroy the buildings etc?? -> I didn't state water would stop gamma radiation though you're right it -> may have seemed to be an asumption. I wondered too why nuclear waste is -> handled in pools of water and seems to be safe for the operators? I -> guess the greater distance away from the blue glow has something to do -> with it. The Distance is the better part of the Gamma Protection but one of the concerns for an Expended Reactor Core is the Neutron Flux. And the Water is a good shield for that. The Blue Glow is even more facinating when seen in person by the way. I got to see it up at the Navy's Reactor Site up in Idaho.
