I am assuming you are referring to the windows clipboard?
Ask/read support pasting from the windows clipboard. Using the default =
.ui, mark a few characters, copy them to the windows clipboard =
(), and then pull up a prompt, say find (). =
Now, press (PasteFromWinClip). The text you marked =
should show up in your prompt. Find uses ask to do the prompting, and =
read is a subset of ask, so they both should work.
Which .ui are you using? Perhaps you do not have PasteFromWinClip =
assigned to a key? Maybe you need to assign it in you 'prompt keys'?
By the way, you really should get 2.8 - it is a free upgrade - I think =
you'll really like the syntax hiliting.
