Just fyi, it is not possible to send private mail in an echo. I know that
some boards allow messages to be flagged as private, but in fact what happens
is the private flag is stripped the minute it leaves the "home" board. This
subsequently involves embarrassing situations like yours. :-( I learned
this the hard way too, unfortunately....
Do you know anything about milk glass? I have just revived an interest in
glassware, since I live right in the middle of the antique center of New
England. This afternoon my sweetie and I did some browsing/store hopping.
In one store I found a rather attractive milk glass vase, the bulbous base
tapering to a narrow neck with a flared opening, with what appeared to be
grape clusters all around the middle. It was a fairly-reasonable $35, but I
wasn't sure if I liked it that much.
Our walk around town took us to a more upscale shop in an old bank building.
There, I saw what appeared to be the identical vase identified as "Imperial
Milk Glass, Elderberry cluster design" for $125. Suddenly the original vase
became QUITE attractive, and I made a beeline back to the shop, looked it
over carefully, and snapped it up.
Mine might be discounted because there are stains on the inside, but a
soaking in detergent removed quite a few of them, and I suspect bleach might
do the trick on the rest. I'm not sure if the sellers were really sure of
what they had, since my vase was simply marked, "milk glass vase". Neither
vase had a mark that I could find. In any case, I'm quite happy with my
purchase, and it looks lovely on my shelf.
Cheers!
Joan
