While tripping merrily through the mail, Tor Harrington was overheard
TH> o Elvis 45 LP, this was `taken' from me, but I'm curious as to what
TH> it might of been worth. I don't know the song, but the record was
TH> red instead of the usual black.
What song it was makes a BIG difference. First off, I'm assuming it
was a 45, NOT an LP? ("LP's" were the 10-12" 33 1/3rpm discs).
If it was "Moody Blue / She Thinks I still Care", RCA PB10857, we're
talking $400 - $ 1000 in VG to NM (very Good to Near Mint) condition,
in "Good" condition (no skips, looks nice, no tears or writing or stickers
on the lable, surface noise not distracting) you'd still be at a couple
hundred.
If it was "Guitar Man / Faded Love", RCA PB12158 it was worth $ 40 - $ 150
VG to NM, "Good" condition maybe $ 10 $ 25, but ONLY if it was a
promotional "DeeJay" copy.
Any other titles, it was probably either a "bootleg" or an import, worth
a couple of bucks. (Other red vinyl singles may exist, but the two mentioned
above are the only ones generally acknowledged as "collectable".)
Don
P.S., prices US $, in the upper midwest. New York of LA, might bring more,
I don't know what the used market it like north of the border.
... Be sure to specify; 78rpm, 8 Track,or Edison Cylinder on your order
