Yup; what those advocating term limits *really* are saying is:
please protect me from voting as I choose! The underlying
assumption is, of course, that voters have little or no influence
over the choice of candidates. As Steve says, those pro and anti
term limits are going to have to agree to disagree.
However, I think it should be pointed out that the reason
Presidential term limits were placed in the Constitution was
purely political: Republicans didn't want another FDR. Nothing
more, nothing less. I must confess I found it most amusing when I
heard certain members of the G.O.P. lamenting that Reagan couldn't
run for a third term. That'sknown as being hoisted by one's own
petard!
