Specifically to Paul:

As you know, I smoke, but my addiction is such that I'm quite capable of
refraining from smoking both before and during the meal, although I must
admit that I'd _prefer_ to have a fag with my coffee.  However, in
deference to Paul (and any other intolerants ), I'm quite happy
not to smoke at all whilst we're in the restaurant, or any other enclosed
space.
