I have no doubt that the umpire called Alomar a name, as Alomar claims.
Umpires, because of their union, act with total impunity on the field, and
never face censure for anything they do (when's the last time an ump was
suspended for provoking the escalation of an argument, for example?), but,
regardless of any name Alomar may have been called, that was no excuse for
spitting on Hirschbeck. It was a stupid, childish act.
