Hello
I wouldn't assume that Asus, possibly and consistently the number one
manufacturer of mobos in the world, who also like everyone else has had
troubles with parts upon ocassion and an occaissional bad, or less good,
design idea, is going to just spiral down into the toilet. It just isn't
so simple as to assume that any manufacturer is always going to be tops
with every instance of every model. The odds in your favor are still there
when we buy reputable brand names and personally I think mobo/chipset is
the single most important, bang-for-buck decision we make in any system
especially considering it is often less than 10% of the total system cost.
I am about to buty an Athlon 64 system and I think I am going to buy an
MSI this time because I don't see an Asus board that quite compares, point
for point with the MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra
ATX AMD Motherboard. This by no means intimates that I've given up on Asus
after buying that brand for the last 6 systems. I feel confident that they
will once again bowl me over when I'm ready to go PCI Express. It's just
that their single remaining socket 939 board with AGP AND nVidia chipset
doesn't look good enough to convince me not to try MSI who seem to be
trying to head upscale.
I'm hoping to keep your chin up since it is altogether too common that
when someone posts a problem there will always be at least one disgruntled
buyer who had a bad experience and who can find a few others who will bash
an entire company for a single model/problem. Don't get me wrong. The
bashing keeps these guys on their toes but I wouldn't let it get me
down...not when we're talking about a manufacturer *always* in the top 5
and for the last, what? 15 years?
