  If the motherboard doesn't have serial ports already - which I guess 
the "legacy free" ones might not, adding a PCI card is a good solution. 
The Quatech are VERY GOOD especially if you need 8 or more serial ports, 
but they are expensive as Kris says.

 I'd be tempted to buy a "cheap and cheerful" PCI card (here in 
Australia, one company doing these sorts or cards, label their products 
under the name LASER, but this could just be the Australian importer).

Another option would be a USB to Serial adapter, but the risk of that 
not working under OS/2 - eCS is greater that the PCI card.

Can I ask what you need to connect via the serial port ? Is this a modem 
or some other Serial interfaced device ??
