 * Subject: *** Moderator bans ACSI.net
On a hopeful note, AGIS networks has disconnected cyberpromo and all but one
of their bulk email customers. I have not received any AGIS related spam in
several weeks! Even some of AGIS strongest critics are now cautiously
optimistic about recent AGIS trends. I have discontinued any actions I have
taken previously against AGIS or their investor AllTel due to previous spam
related problems with AGIS customers.
I hope these positive trends at AGIS continue.
AGIS has turned from being one of the worst sources of spam, to one of the
better providers. Why? Because people were complaining about the unwanted
spam they received. I urge you to report at least some of your spams to
their providers. Complaints work. You cannot expect the other guy to
complain for you.
======
Due to unrelenting email and USENET spamming I am banning ACSI.net based
submissions to this group. If I can safely alias ACSI.net servers I
shall do so.
ACSI has been under UDP for a month or so with little apparent positive spam
removal activity: The only positives I know of are placing a robot to reply
to complaints to abuse@acsi.net and publication of an Acceptable Use Policy.
Their other visible activities appear to include signing new email spammers,
disabling traceroute and ping in their network, total disregard of 6t9.com's
continuing 10,000 to 15,000 daily sex spams in USENET which is primarily why
ACSI was UDPed.
It also appears that most of the recent defections from AGIS hosting have
moved to ACSI.net where they have become even more prolific in their attacks
on my email addresses.
One of this morning's ACSI.net hosted spams was some sort of a stock
offering from JT's Restaurants, Inc. They claimed to be on NASDAQ which is
untrue, and NASDAQ and the US SEC are investigating JT. This spam has been
reported to ACSI for weeks with no visible action or letup in the frequency
of complaints in the news.admin.net-abuse.* newsgroups.
ACSI is traded on NASDAQ symbol ACNS.
=========
Note that many of the former AGIS hosted spammers are placing false DNS and
whois information in router tables and Internic. After Regulus.net was
disconnected from AGIS, Regulus's admin announced DNS pointing to AGIS IP
numbers it didn't own and set MX records to point to their live ACSI space.
This had the effect of causing the mail responses to get back to their ACSI
based servers while the traceroutes went into AGIS netspace and caused a lot
of misdirected complaints to AGIS operations.
Some other DNS tricks the dislocated spammers are using are naming (reverse
mapping) their routers to bogus entries. One recent trace seems to go to
s13.edelweiss.net but my checks show that it really is one of of the
*.alpina1.net machines. I assume that this nasty trick will cause
edelweiss.net to get complaints due to alpina1.net's spamming
It appears that many bulk emailers are liars and cheats... and afraid to
face the consequences to their actions so they forge to deflect complaints.
