subject: VFP Forms

David,

With your permission, I'd like to pick your brain. And if I sound
like a "cry baby", please forgive me. When VFP's form wizard creat a form for
you, why is it that when you press the Add button it creates, the cursor (not
me - the cursor on the screen ) does
not go to the 1st field automaticlly????? It doesn't make sense to me. It
seems to me that if you want to Add new data that the next
event would be to go to the 1st data entry field. It doesn't matter
what I do to the tab order - the only way to get cursor to the 1st field is
to put my mouse there and click it. I assume that whe you hit the Add button
it is executing an Append Blank somewhere. I got so pissed of with this today
that I went out to buy the Access 95
upgrade! As luck would have it, all _three_ computer stores were
out of it! (maybe the missing Access's was a hint for me to cool my jets and
be patient with myself ).

You know, everyone here may laugh at Access, but, it did a lot of
common sense things for you that I'm not finding in VFP - I never
had to create navigation tools (1st, previous, next, last), the form by
default had them - hit new, and the cursor automatically went to the 1st
field - experiment all you want with a form and
it's design, no change was permenant until you exited out of the form and
saved the changes, unlike VFP where you can't run a form
until you've saved the change - queries, powerful and _easy_ (I eventually
found how to prompt a user for a parameter input (page 194 of the Developer's
Guide) -it's much easier to do in Access).
There's no doubt the VFP is far more powerfull over all than Access, but in
some ways, there's no doubt in my mind that VFP has a long way to go to catch
up with Access....

I'll be sure to have a bullet proof vest on when you respond .
Many thanks....and be patient with me.

Abber
