        Interesting this piece, Jim.  With the doves in Washington having
succeeded in giving away our Phillipeans bases (Clark, Subic Bay), and now
giving away the canal zone, which one of them is going to gaurantee our navy
has access to the Pacific basin if the ball drops again?  Notice how quick
Central American countries are looking at the 2 Chinas as a source of income
with the CIS, and the US not even out of the picture yet.
        Did anyone stop to consider the political ramifications of Red China
getting a foothold in Central America when we pull out and leave a political
and economical vacuum in our wake?
        At the least we contribute to a civil war in China as Taiwan asserts
it's independence and Red China steps up it's control, and at the worst we 
just
handed the keys to the US Mainland to a Communist country.  Am I just having 

bad brain day or what?  :-)
