1237a59f0643 tech Hello Wayne - WC>> My landlady is a sweatheart and snagged the machine for me WC>> when a friend upgraded. CA>> I have had people who were generous enough to give me CA>> useful hardware become annoyed when they found that I was CA>> actually using it. Strange phenomena but I suspect they CA>> gave it to me as a final test to prove they really did CA>> need a newer one. When I got it all fixed it seems they CA>> felt betrayed? WC> You know I got a bit of that sort of drift on this deal WC> myself. I don't really care as if the woman wants to swap WC> out the Gateway for this machine no problemo, You may want to read my reply to Matt. I lost a '55 Chevy by fixing it too soon and not having a title transfer in my name. :-\ When I am given a computer I usually have them write a short note that they have no further interest in the equipment and sign it. More to discourage them from even _thinking_ about asking for it back than to want a courtroom battle over it one day. Recently was offerred a computer then after further discussion it was mentioned "... then if I ever needed it back again ...". Turns out they were looking for free 'troubleshooting' since the system had become unstable for them. I declined the offer. I think we've all had the "give now, take back later" thing happen to us many times in our lives? WC>> I'm now hardware tech support for her new machine so she WC>> can get onto AOL. In the next couple of days I'll have her WC>> system over here and set it up properly for her. Truly, her seeing the old machine working (possibly better than her new one) is not going to be a good thing. :-\ CA>> Try to not criticize her choice of OS too much. Even with CA>> the best of intentions people do take it as 'not liking CA>> their dog'. CA> > :-\ WC> I won't with current tech support target however did so WC> with my landladies Win XP, she agreed with me. --8<--cut WC> I see them integrating a computer into the TV - Monitor. WC> Noted on Tom's Hardware site an account of someone who WC> setup his computer just to access HDTV, interesting and I'm WC> going there myself as it's actually cheaper than the HDTV WC> set. Almost anything is cheaper than a new HDTV these days. :-) WC>> My mind is trying to deal with so much the last few days I WC>> forgot for a time my password for fidotel. CA>> Well your mind is filled with 'happy' thoughts at least. CA>> ;-) WC> Well picked up a sixpack and chugged last night... computer WC> burn, needed a break. Always good to pause and appreciate your good luck. Never know when the next opportunity will come along.
