DB> "C was *meant* to be dangerous!" BL> Yair... I don't think it's for me. KR> i think that the difference is like driving yourself, as KR> against flying in an airliner. in the latter case, there are KR> all sorts of people around to make sure that you don't come to KR> any harm, in the former, it is all up to you, no one is there KR> to prevent you from driving off a cliff if you misread the road KR> sign. i, being a hacker by nature hate writing in ada or KR> pascal, but when i fly i do hope to hell that the software in KR> the 'plane's autopilot was written in one of these. I like your analogy. Bloody C ate some of my hard disc last night, and this morning TinyPoint fainted when it got the mail. I couldn't find what went wrong, but it came good when I reinstalled... bloody C! I've been using Windows happily for three years but my method is vicious: as soon as an application stuffs up, I throw it away. I've never had anything as crazy as C before, that not only locks up Windows, but it overwrites the hard disc at random like Russian roulette. I've got it on a floppy now (after the horse has bolted). Regards, Bob ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- PQWK202* Origin: Precision Nonsense, Sydney (3:711/934.12) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
