I still like old stuff myself, got an old 1981 SONY amplifier which is use
a lot and it still works well, nice and powerful too :-)

As long as someone hasn't copied a CD off with some cheap midi system that
has a horrible cheap tape deck which has loads of hiss and buzz and loss of
treble then it should be ok.
I've got an AIWA AD-F450 tape deck with Dolby HX Pro, B and C noise
reduction and am quite happy with the performance.
