Hi, everyone.
After a late-night discussion via AIM with a friend who has aquarium
keeping ¨experience, I isolated the Colonel in a clean glass that was able
to keep the ¨rim above water. I woke up this morning, came out to the
aquarium and the ¨Colonel wasn't moving. I pulled the glass out and he
moved, ever so slightly. ¨I knew he was on his way out, so I gave him up
to the next life.
Upon close examination, there are things floating in the aquarium water
now, so ¨Scarlet (my bloodfin tetra) is going to be put into a clean glass
with some ¨water and her airstone while I dump and clean the tank. It's
got a strong ¨musty smell to it (like rotting leaves), so I think that I
have overfed them ¨(and I hope I didn't kill the Colonel :/ ). Needless to
say, it's down to one ¨crushed flake from two.
Also, is there a particular water test kit that anyone recommends? It's
just a ¨little two-gallon tank with two fish in it (I am going to get
another tetra to ¨put in there, but not sure which one yet).
I did add some fresh (dechlorinated) water to the tank today, so that
should ¨help dilute anything that may be in there, but tonight I'll be
cleaning the ¨tank.
If anyone else has any more advice, you can email me at kd5col{at}charter.net
with ¨it-I'm still saddened and suprised I managed to kill my first fish in
a month's ¨time. :/
Later,
Sean
