Van Valen originally suggested his "Red Queen's hypothesis" in 1973, and 
the idea has taken off in directions he probably never expected, to the 
extent that it's name has changed.  I just did a Google search for "Red 
Queen hypothesis", and it gave me "about 989 hits".  I then
did a search 
for "Red Queen's hypothesis", and it gave me 24 hits and asked me if I 
meant "Red Queen Hypothesis".  Ouch.
