Actually, I'd have to know more about at what level the area was considered
pacified. And what sort of training the Canadians were actually performing
- I don't know these things. Calling the area a "war zone" might not be
appropriate.
A lot of things struck me as rather weird about that whole thing. And I'm
definitely no expert on infantry or combat training.
However, there aren't that many places out there available to train in
terrain, and possibly more importantly altitudes, like Afghanistan.
My opinion of the actions of the pilots I'll keep to myself - aside from
saying that it doesn't bother me in the least that they'll never fly for
the USAF again.
