Prices bounced around modestly above the line today, closing up a couple
points. It would take about 13pts to be significant. Volume sank to
-15% below average. So prices went up because the supply from sellers
was restricted. So the ugliness continues.

So with little to say about the market, let me say two things about
investing I've learned that are worth every cent of your subscription
price. Huh? Oh, well, it would be, whatever I charged.

"Earning money is the RESULT of wise investing, not the MOTIVATION."
There's another word for earnings being the motivation for investing:
greed. That'll mess up your strategy and tactics. But making wise
investment decisions, because they are wise investment decisions, is the
best way of producing the earnings we want. It's another of those
things that if one goes hunting, grasping for it, it eludes one. If one
attends to one's business, then it comes around.

"Investment strategies aren't about number crunching, chart reading, and
accounting. They are about epistemology: the branch of philosophy that
investigates the origin, nature, methods and limits of human knowledge."
To borrow from Senator Sam, "what do you know and how do you know it?"
Our specific question with each investment is: is this the right stock
or fund to buy (or sell) right now? How do we find an answer to that
question? That's our challenge. Those answers should become rules we
develop to guide us.

Remember those two things!
Price Vola- Momen- Volume Oscil- Summ.

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)

Last Signal: SELL Date: 08/16/05 S&P: 1219
Winner or Loser: Winner By: +25
