Believe it or not, my first year course in genetics was pretty much
covered in "The Cartoon Guide to Genetics" by Gonick & Wheelis.

I would also recommend that you try and read New Scientist
(http://www.newscientist.com/), as it will have articles of interest to
you. You should see if your library subscribes to it.

A lot of universities teach degree courses in genetics, and many will
teach neurology (or neuroscience, if they want to appear modern) as
well. Most big universities will have courses in the areas you're
interested in (except perhaps mimetics, but it may be covered in
evolutionary psychology or animal behaviour courses). Certainly
Helsinki does. I would suggest you look for universities which give you
a lot of flexibility in the courses you can take, as this will help you
cover the subjects you're interested in (they will be taught by
different departments, and indeed might be by different faculties.
Welcome to the wonderful world of university administration!)

Good luck!
