"He" meaning my son? Sort of: he does general
repair/service/cleanup work on
Win boxes very part-time, mostly by word-of-mouth recommendation via friends
and some of his former teachers (whose machines he's saved more than once),
but not in any big way (so far). He starts college in August, so his business
doesn't need to grow too much.

The recommendation is based on his own experience and that of his former Cisco
and network instructor. They had several hundred boxes at his HS, and he
worked on many of them as part of the team of student techs. (How else does an
urban US high school afford to maintain that large a wired/wireless network?)

He recommends the same for most other major components. Partly because he
doesn't trust any maker's quality anymore, and partly because after 5 years it
becomes difficult to get replacement parts for anything remotely approaching a
reasonable amount of money, especially considering the "bang for the buck"
factor.

I liked my old box, but my resources aren't unlimited.
