MARIE WEIDEMANN was thinking about Re: That Kelley person... and keyed
into cyberspace:
MW> MW> She is not a stupid woman, just very narrow minded when it comes
MW> MW>to drugs of _any_ kind. Even ones that are doctor prescribed.
MW> MW>She feels people can be healed better through natural herbs. I
MW> MW>know herbs can help but the drugs that are prescribed for AD(H)D
MW> MW>are needed by most of the children. I have 7 grandchildren that
MW> MW>have either ADD or ADHD. They are on different meds.
MW> MP> Agreed that she is not stupid. What she spouts is dangerous, and
MW> MP> made more dangerous because she cloaks herself in the aura of a
MW> MP> medical professional and sounds like she knows what she is
MW> MP> talking about. Herbs have nothing to do with ADHD.
MW> I understand exactlly what you are saying. I have been in the health
MW>field myself for over 8 years. I read the journals but I would never
MW>profess to know everything about anything...Whatever information I
MW>get, I share it with others and let them make their own decisions.
I share information, too. There is a load of very good stuff on the WWW.
One of them is the entire report from Ken BLum about the genetic basis
for ADHD. It contains an excellent explanation of the reason why ADHD
seems to be co-morbid with many things.
MW> MP> As for your seven grandchildren...I know someone who says that
MW> MP> there is no genetic factor in ADHD. Could you have him over for
MW> MP> dinner, and forget to give the kids their meds?
MW> MP> :)
MW> Send him over...I live in Pennsylvania but it may be worth the trip.
MW>I must tell you I have 17 natural grandchildren, which the 7 in
MW>question are, and I have 15 step grandchildren. I have 8 children, 3
MW>which are still ADD and ADHD, and one that has some of the symptoms.
MW>I, myself, seem to have a few. We were told by the doctors here that
MW>ADHD is genetic.
MW> Actually when the grandkids are here with me, they behave very well.
MW>I am very strict with them and it seems to work "with me"...I never
MW>hit them, but I do make sure I have their attention and let them
MW>know that I am displeased with how they are acting. They usually
MW>quiet down for me. Takes one to know one, perhaps....:)
Perhaps it is just you. My ADHDer always seem to have a special
relationship with his Grandfather. When they were together, he was a
totally different child.
Holiday dinners at your place must make the local news. My family is so
small that for my son's Bat Mitzvah in September, we rented the coat
room at a local restaurant. Had room to spare.
