Yep.. I still have about 3 years of the original warranty.  I personally did 
not use the modem for very long after I bought it.   I had it installed on a 
remote mailer system that was making long-distance calls to my main system.   
Therefore, I did not readily witness the poor connection problems.  I assumed 
that the top 9600bps speed was attributed to poor long-distance line quality.
But when I replaced the LC on *that* remote system, the connection speeds 
improved immediately.   Then when I used the LC regularly myself, I noticed 
that the RECEIVE channel was constantly struggling and retraining.
I bought the LC as an emergency replacement when my regular 14.4 v32bis 
external was sent back to the retailer for an exchange/repair.
