Beats me. The millennialist Christians seem to feel that before Christ can
come again there must be certain conditions. One such is that there should
be resumption of Temple Worship in Jerusalem. For that, apparently, it is
necessary to find the ashes of the red heifer, which was presumably
sacrificed in the previous temple. (I'm a bit hazy about the details).
Obviously all this requires a functioning Jewish State, so they make common
cause with the Zionists. A strange allegiance, to be sure.

(Also they seem to have mislaid the Ark of the Covenant, but maybe it's in
Ethiopia. IAC, it appears to be a less essential ingredient.)
