Probably about 6 years ago, I bought 4 USR "Courier v.Everything" 
modems.  They're still in use and work well.  PMFax runs on one of them 
with no problem.

I had heard a "rule" that if it's an external modem, it's not a 
winmodem; I don't know if that's still true.
