CA> More than likely they would've eventually told you they had to CA> reduce your wages to bring you 'inline' with others on the CA> payroll. Typical cr*p to lure people into relocation. They did that _before_ the move, said you coulld keep your job if you took a pay cut. My own boss took a 5 dollar/Hr hit and still was fired after the move. Don't weep for him though he was a creep. All this occured mind you mere weeks after the geniuse's in production voted down a union which would have likely stopped plans for the move due to costs for job retraining for employees. I voted for the union and was sadly in the minority. Having run into a number of people from that place since most all recount they got far better jobs anyway and good riddence. CA>> To keep you the company must 'buy out your contract' CA>> usually this figure is in the thousands of dollars and CA>> reduces the amount of pay the company can then offer to CA>> you to stay with them. CA> Some companies hate interviewing enough to pay the fee but CA> consider what they _could_ have paid you if the money went to CA> you instead of the agency. ;-) Oh they paid Charles, I had them by the short hairs as I could do what three printers at the other plants throughout the U.S. couldn't. Maintain outstanding equipment uptime, thousands of dollars of printing plates running around 200 plates that saw hundreds of thousands of feet of use every two days or week or two depending on how standard a run they were for. I actually got bonus for all three shifts having made the point Florida's plant was the largest producer and the only plant with only one printer. Third shift never paid bonus because they were doing too much drugging and drinking except for one short period where the supervisor was cooking the production accounts. Still first and second shift was a good 150 or more extra takehome a week and adding my usual 60 - 66 hours a week the overtime ran into bucks as well. Mind you I went to work dead early as to beat the heat and also to run the standards until the managers came in to tell me what they needed for Walmart, ServiceStar and others. They hated me for doing this but it worked out extremely well for them and me as what I ran was always shipped in 2 days and that allowed me to do the specials and still be off work when the banks were open. For a very short time I obeyed their policy and found myself arriving at work at 5 AM and leaving at 7 PM 6 days a week :-( I don't believe that lasted a week and I went back to my routine. AFAIK I'm the _only_ one in production they offered a pay raise to go with them to Bartow. --- MultiMail/PBellDOS v0.42* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:275/311) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 275/311 10/345 379/1 633/267 |
