| subject: | Re: [OS2HW] fax modems? |
Hello, Can't say that I've been wildly enthused about the performance of any USR modem. There are better buys for less money, and in several hardware tests cheap modems with Rockwell chipsets (now Connexant) like for instance the E-Tech Bullet 56 (RVP) happened to outperform USR products. If you want to spend USR money and have some time there are some jewels to be found. Lately I managed to put my hands on an external modem that had been on my wish list for several years but had been way beyond my budget. It's the ZyXEL U-90E and with $30 (brand-new with bill and warranty on eBay) I paid about 1/10 of the original (European) list-price. It's advantage is that it can adapt to any protocol or speed, fax modem Class 1, 2, you name it. Temporarily unable to use ADSL I decided to make use of the ZyXEL instead of my other 56K external and was impressed with the speed improvement of everything it does, whether dialing, handshake, data- or fax-transfer. PMfaxPro now functions better than ever, Injoy, DOIP, all great. Regards, Jan Kris Steenhaut wrote: > What about this one: > > http://www.usr.com/products/home/home-product.asp?sku=USR5686E > Yahoo!
