Thanks everybody. I found a 10yr. old ATT Paradyne 14.4k modem.
The price was right so I couldn't pass it up and since I don't use
dialup I figured I'd give it a try. It took quite awhile to get it
going, but now it is working.
Turns out I had pmfax set to class 1 fax and this modem wants to be
class 2. Seems to me that it should do both but I guess it doesn't
work that way.
At least this problem is behind me and I can go back to doing
something productive.
Rgds, Jon
