ZM> Your logic is good, however from what I have been told by all the
ZM> providers, these days the equipment and resources cost exactly the
ZM> same 24 hours per day.
ZM> A good example arose yesterday in one of our local newspapers which
ZM> had front page headlines saying that the Australian consumer was being
ZM> ripped-off by excessive international phone rates. It was calculated
ZM> that because of modern technology, the actual cost of providing
ZM> international calls was one-fifth of what was actually being charged.
ZM> In other words, the companies were making 500% profit on international
ZM> phone calls.
Remember that just because it costs them 1/5th of what you were paying,
what about their initial startup costs, to set up the sytem, to run
all their lines, to pay for all their equipment, that has to be paid
for somewhere. they don't chage you $1000 setup fee for every customer,
that has to be made up somewhere you know. I understand now why
they have to make at least a bit of money off of calls.
