-> As far a Ritalin is concerened. I got the impression she feels that
-> everyone who has an ADHD child has some kind of alcoholism in the family
and
-> that this kind of med would not work. Well my Jonathon was on Ritalin
nd
-> it did work. That was all the proof I needed.
TK> Yes, I know what you mean about the ritalin. I am currrently taking
TK> it, as well as my oldest daughter. My daughter has turned a complete
TK> 180 degrees around since starting the ritalin treatments. She was
TK> having a very difficult time in school, and her grades were showing it.
TK> Once she started on the ritalin, her grades imediately improved from
TK> D's & E's to A's & B's. These people out there pushing these
TK> supplements are stuck in these network marketing scams, and would tell
TK> you their product will bring you back from the dead.
TK> Now I just wish I could get some help for my youngest daughter. She
TK> is extremely hyperactive, but her school work is extrodinary, so the
TK> doctors won't do anything until her school work starts to suffer. If
TK> anyone out there has any suggestions on how to keep a hyperactive under
TK> control without physical restraint & or medicine your suggestions would
TK> be greatly appreciated.
I would put her in Karate to teach her discipline and self control. Either
that or find a new doctor. There really isn't much else to do. If you
haven't read too much on the subject go to the Library. I haven't put
my Jeremy on anything yet. But his focusing is quite hard and I will have
to do something. Right now we have no insurance so I pay for it all. My
husband is going in for surgery so right now Ritalin is out of the question.
But we are considering the Karate thing. The person we found will take all
three kids for 50 a month and has experience with ADHD children. I will
probably go that route first. Meds do work, but I have heard some really
good things about Karate and no meds that I will try it first. My 12 year
old was diagnosed with ADHD in 1st grade. He was on Ritalin, but he hated/
like it. Contradictory, but that is how he felt. He liked slowing down,
but hated the fact he felt trapped inside. Now that puberty started he
isn't hardly hyper anymore. The other school district I was in taught him
to focus and it worked. I don't know how he did it, but it worked. He
still gets distracted and still is impulsive, but being able to focus has
helped that too. This is why I am going to try Karate. Oh sometimes he
can't focus, but all in all he learned very well. I wich I could get ahold
of them to find out how they did it.
Oh I do believe you need to keep an eye on your childrens diet and of course
give them their vitamins if necessary, but without real proof of these
things helping.......and I tried it with them, I will not call diets and
supplements an answer to ADHD,
Regina
... ARRRRRGGGHHH!!!! ... Tension breaker, had to be done.
