On the right side of the screen is: Modems 101. It is a basic of how the
diffences of a modem work . It will help you.

usr is US Robotics a good modem company 

Find out how modems work with Modems 101.

You should look for a modem that has a "controler" Read the specs
on the box and if it says Linux is supported it should work in eCS.

Winmodems lack the controler chip.

Price fo Winmodem s considerably less
